Life in the British Navy: Olaudah Equiano

Olaudah Equiano was an African that was kidnapped along with his sister at about the age of 11 or 12 for slavery. He was sold to a Lieutenant of the British Navy, and began his life in the ocean.

Equiano, at first, was a very fearful boy, but as the time passed he increased in knowledge, and age, and soon lost all of his fear. He adjusted to the life in the British Navy, and felt happy of being there. He had become a sailor, and he had education, unlike slaves in the south of America. He experienced naval wars, but had no fear, and performed his job well. He respected the Englishmen, looked up to them, and wanted to become like them. He was treated well by his master and everyone on board the ship.

Equiano enjoyed life in the British Navy, and had a good attitude about it.
