Should the state set the prices, or should the free market do it?
One easy and simple question leads to an easy and simple answer.
The free market should be the one to set up the prices, for many reasons, but I will only state one.
If the state is the one who sets the prices, then there is no freedom. Price controls are people controls. The people will not have freedom on what to buy and waht not to buy. It will be necessary to set up price floors and price ceilings, but won’t be good, since prices fluctuate.
If the free market sets the prices, then that will be great, because the customers would create competition between businesses, and it will automatically set prices lower.
